way to frame your way to five figures. Photography podcast. I'm your host, Brooke Jefferson, and I'm so happy you're here. I created this podcast aspiring photographer in mind to help you go from 0 to 5 figures and beyond. Have you ever felt the impostor syndrome? You know, the feeling that everyone else around you is better than you, and there is no way you're qualified to be doing what you're doing. You are not alone. This is a common feeling that almost any photographer feels, especially in the beginning when they're just starting out. I know I found myself comparing work to every photographer in my area who had been doing it for years. I didn't believe that I could gain my own clients who would rave about me and my work. But as time went on, a gain more confidence. And now I truly do believe that I am just a CZ worthy and capable as the other photographers in my area. Today I want to dive in three ways that can help you stand out from other photographers in your industry. These are the three pillars I have built my business on and carried out for the last five years. Number one. Let's take it back to 2014 when I was just starting out with photography. This is when I was charging $50 a session and slapping some embarrassing editing on the pictures and calling it art. We all start somewhere. If you haven't listened to the full story of how I became a photographer, you definitely need to listen to Episode one. Before I knew what I was doing. As Faras photography goes, I prided myself on one thing. Customer service. I think this is the most powerful skill when it comes to running a business. How you treat people and make them feel is everything. It is the reason people will rave about you, use you again and again and send people your way. It is also the reason people will cut ties with you, never come back and bad mouth you to everyone they know. Customer service is crucial. You need to get really clear on how you want to make people feel I am an over communicator and over deliver. My clients know that I am going to give them the V I P treatment from start to finish They also know I'm going to stand on my word and do exactly what I tell them. A couple ways I go above and beyond for my clients is I always under promise the amount of pictures they will receive and overdeliver. This makes them feel like they got more for their dollar. Plus, I like a good surprise over now and then. Another way I treat my clients with lots of love is that every year around the holidays, I send a thank you holiday card along with a personalized message. Taylor to them in some years, even send out a discount code that they can use on their next session. With me, this is one of my special secrets to keep them coming back again and again. Number two. I get really unique with my pricing offers. I get super detailed and try to find ways to think outside of the box from the way my pricing guide looks to the way I explained what they get. For example, one of the photographers in my one on one coaching program was crafting her wedding packages One way we decided to differentiate her prices from others in her area was tune Our charge hourly rates, but to give to package options one package for the type of bride that one of the basics photograph and one package to tailor the bride who wanted all day coverage. This helped her stand out in her bride's mind when she was comparing what photographer to hire. This also allowed the bride to decide quickly and easily what she wanted. Photographers understand how many hours it takes to photograph, but bride and groom's don't they usually have never been married before, and some brides will insist you do the same amount of work in four hours versus the amount of work that you offer in your 10. Our package. This is just one way to set clear boundaries and expectations on both ends. Find a way for you to differentiate yourself among your peers. Number three. The last way that you can stand out as a photographer in your industry is how you market. Most photographers are either not keeping up with their social media updates, or they are just popping in with very generic trying to book sessions and not really getting clear on a call to action. Number three. The last way that you can set yourself apart in the photography industry is how you market how you market can. 100% set you apart. You want to deliver value to those who are watching you. Some ideas you can put into play today is to start showing the behind the scenes of your business and photo sessions in your instagram stories in your Facebook stories. Showcase of behind the scenes video on your Facebook business page. When you pose sneak peeks or session recaps, tell a story of what you photographed. Evoke some emotion so that people can relate to what you are showcasing. Offer tips and tricks for preparing for shoots or weddings or events. Find ways to become an expert in your neesh. Offer a free guide. Your prospects. You can grow your email list. The more effort and quality you can put into your social media marketing, the more clients you will book. And the one strategy that will really set you apart from your competition is to do live videos. I have started these and then fallen off the bandwagon. Going live is not easy. Putting yourself out there is hard work. It is nerve racking. But this is the way that you will set yourself apart. So there you have it three ways to set yourself apart from all the photographers in your area. A quick recap. Number one Customer service is everything. How you treat people is how they will treat you and how they will send customers to you or send customers to someone else. Number two being unique about pricing your service is you've got to find a way to stand out number three how you market how you market can. 100% set you apart.
